(Hello - Welcome to Brittany!)
~ Come and join us in Auckland on May 5th for a day of discovery of Brittany's Celtic culture ~
Interested in the Celtic music from Brittany, their local pipe bands (bagad), their lively music, their specific instruments, the differences with Scottish music and bands, etc...?
Then come to the music seminar from 10am to 11.30am, and attend an introductory class with live demonstrations and detailed explanations from Breton tutor Gwenael Lamour (bombarde player from Bagad Kemper, current Grade 1 champion, and former bombarde leader in the professional Navy Bagad).
Instruments are optional, but make sure you bring a B flat tin whistle (or arrange beforehand with us for one) if you're interested in a more practical bombarde workshop from 11.30am to 1pm.
Want to learn some traditional Breton dances, or just get a first slow and detailed practice before the evening ceilidh? Then join our beginners' dancing class at 1pm, starting off with the simplest dances (mostly series of little basic steps), and gradually getting to more complicated stuff - Nothing but you and your good mood required!
Finally, come to enjoy a typical Breton Fest-Noz ("fest"= party, "noz"=night) from 7pm onwards, with its dance floor full of enthusiastic dancers, some passionate live musicians, its "buvette" (=bar, where Breton cider (quite different in taste from NZ cider) is usually the prominent drink for thirsty and/or shy dancers!), and of course you can indulge there warm savoury and/or sweet delicious crêpe snacks, if you need a quick bite to regain strength between two dances! No age restriction, everyone is welcome - Only one word on the programme for the evening: FUN!! Bring along your friends, and forward this message, the more the merrier!
Earlybirds get rewarded with 1 FREE crêpe, so make sure you purchase your tickets before May 1st! Also note that special fare applies for students and children under 12yo. Flyer attached - all details available on our website (http://www.bagadnz.webs.com) and on our regularly updated facebook page.
Looking forward to see you there!
